About Me

postitbirds

I am your typical writer.

  • I am often struck with an irresistible urge to perform epic air guitar riffs in the middle of boring phone calls. (I never resist.)
  • Farts never fail to make me laugh.
  • I am always planning an escape to a foreign country.
  • Learning the choreography in the middle of LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem video is high on my list of Things to Do.
  • I have a budget for Post-It notes.
  • I consult a lunar calendar to schedule my annual haircuts.
  • My standard response to crazy, wild, misguided adventures? YES, PLEASE!

I have been blogging here in various spurts since 2008, focused mostly on writing and writerly things…but then Neil Gaiman made me go to Venice, and my measure of the world blew up exponentially. I decided I wanted to blog about it all: travel, life, music, art — all the things that feed my strange brand of fiction.

So, you can expect to see lots of fun posts on hula hoop wrapping, belly dancing, wild animal encounters, favorite reads, and total shenanigans. I am here solely for your epic entertainment. If you don’t smile, your money back. 😉

And if you enjoy reading short stories, speculative fiction, weird tales, suburban fantasy, creature features, magic realism, ghost stories, supernatural chick lit, and straight-up science fiction with all the trimmings (spaceships, intergalactic travel, colonies, redshirts), then you’re in luck! I writes it.

In fact, now that you’ve brought it up, my first short fiction title Between Friends is now available on Amazon. I think you’ll like it. It’s about an elderly hoarder and her otherworldly roommate and the dark secrets between them. It includes interior illustrations by yours truly, an essay on Ray Bradbury, and a picture of me paying homage to the Far Side lady.

I stopped by after seeing you freshly pressed, and just wanted to wish you all the best with getting published this year… If your stories are anywhere near as creative as your blog, I’m sure you won’t have much trouble 🙂

Thank you, Beau. I really appreciate your support and good vibes. I wish you all the best in your endeavors…I think you’re a pretty damn good writer yourself. 🙂

    • mybluescreen says:

Hey, thanks a lot! I really appreciate it! I am reciprocating. I checked out your blog and really enjoyed it. Seems like you’ve been everywhere! 🙂

Oh, wow! Thank you! How fun! I’m honored! (BTW, I love, love, LOVE your blog header.)

I feel like now might be an okay time to mention that I am not really a fan of s’mores. I always try liking them, everytime I am around a campfire, and I always end up throwing half into the fire because I still don’t like it. I don’t know why, I love all three ingredients on their own…

Other than that you’re introduction in the About Me is wonderful. I have faith that you will become published soon, and when you DO become published I can do my very best to get your book into my library and promote the dickens out of it. 😉 Authors love knowing librarians. I think. Ha ha ha!

Listen, I’m totally with you. It’s a messy, not particularly toothsome conglomeration of all things sticky and sweet, and I’d just as well enjoy them separately too. However, I offer them on the grounds of public preference, as only the fearless (read: us) are willing to admit that they’re not so much into them. Don’t worry. I’ve got turkey sandwiches for us.

And thank you, thank you, thank you. You’re right…authors love librarians. 🙂

Thank you for alerting me to this! It worked before, but now, for some reason, the code is throwing an additional address in front of the entire link, thus rendering everything into lumps of 404 confusion. I’m still trying to work this out, but I’m so glad you let me know. Thank you!

Holy smokes, I miss you! It has been ages since I have stopped by for a visit. I brought a sandwich. *dangles sandwich baggie and non-environmentally-friendly-styrofoam-coffee-cup at you* Oh yeah, and coffee. Why? Because I simply appreciate you.

Your writing and humor make me happy. Your spirit is surely beautiful as is. Eateth this sandwich, drinketh of this cup, and rejoice for you are indeed a writer!

Say “Hullo,” to all yer dinosaurs for me. Also to the little dinosaur hunter herself, the Toddler.

Have a slightly-better-than-average day, because sometimes that is all writers can hope for! (Just kidding!!!!!! I hope your day ROCKS!) 😛

I miss you guys too! I miss the blog! I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you came by to check in on me. I will be back in the groove here shortly. So much I want to share. I gotta be honest…I really miss the blog…but I’ve been writing. Fat Cat’s home on leave too, so we’ve been enjoying his company. The Toddler is doing great. All potty-trained! I can’t believe it. I will write more soon. But thank you so much for the well wishes…and the rockin’ sandwich and cyber-coffee! All that and much love back atcha!

Great talking with you today Angela. Good luck with the writing and lets keep in touch from time to time! Let me know when your book is published! And please consider living a Bank-Free life too… : )

  5. Heather says:

AHH! Angela, I miss you. I keep commenting on your About Me page over and over again because it’s been quite a while since either of us have updated our blogs. Life, y’know? I’ll be doing some serious art-making coming up in the next year or so– maybe I should post some of those things to my blog. Or at the very least, update so people know I’m alive.
