A WEE STORY FOR THE LASSIES AND LADDIES

I’m wearing green for all the Chinese-Irish in the house!  Me and that one other dude.  (Hey, bro.)

Today is not only St. Patrick’s Day, but it’s the fabulous, awesome, rocking-good-time St. Patrick’s Day blogfest hosted by the lovely Alexia Chamberlynn and Colene Murphy.  Everyone’s sharing a flash fiction story today, so put on your seven-league Uggs and start blog hopping.

Here is my literary corned-beef-and-hash offering.  I thought I’d try something I’ve never done before.  I hope you like it.

Thanks for reading (watching).  And don’t forget to follow the goblin trail to all the other fine Irish stories and leave a trail of appreciation in everyone’s comments section!

Thank you! I really appreciate that. There’s so many talented photographers on Flickr who are generous enough to post their stuff under Creative Commons. Anyway, thanks much!

Thank you! And thanks for hosting. This is my first time participating in something like this, and it’s lots ‘o fun! 🙂

Thank you! I really appreciate that. Thanks to you and Alexia for hosting such a fun party! 🙂

  1. Jennie says:

This ROCKED! What a wonderful surprise. I’m so glad you did this as your entry. It’s nice to come across everyone’s take on things. Your images were amazing.

Thank you! I really appreciate that. I got really lucky with some of the photos. My favorite was taken by my best friend (the misty picture with her daughter and me walking, with my baby on my shoulders). But many of them came from folks on Flickr…including the awesome double rainbow pic. 🙂

Hi, Jennie! Thank you for stopping by…and thank you for the kind words. This was really fun, and it was neat to see everyone’s take on things. Thanks again!

  2. Heather says:

That was freaking amazing. Oh geez, now I have to find the time to watch the rest of them too! Why did you do this to me!? Ha ha ha… I’m only kidding. But I will have to find time to watch the others… I can’t wait! Unfortunately I will have to because I am going to be at Staff Development Day all day tomorrow. 🙂

I have written a bit more, which makes me VERY happy. I was inspired when I found a very old notebook of mine while cleaning my room. I had stated that by the time I was 17 years old I would be attending Yale as a Creative Writing major. Huh, … what ever happened to that?

    • mybluescreen says:

🙂 You’re so sweet! Thank you. I just finished reading the rest of the St. Patty’s Day stories just now. Lots of cute little stories.

Glad to hear you’re writing! As for long-lost aspirations…meh! You were meant for bigger and better things than being a creative writing major at Yale. 😉

      • Heather says:

You are too funny. You are also TOO accurate. I was definitely meant for much bigger and better things. Be on the look out, because some special and exciting things will be happening on my blog soon. I hope! 😛

I might need some help spreading the word.

        • mybluescreen says:

I am on the lookout girl, for my up and coming friend Heather! I will be tooting your horn for everyone to hear…as soon as you’re ready. 🙂

    • mybluescreen says:

Hi, Madeleine! Thanks for stopping by! And thank you for the kind words. I gotta tell you, though, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of atmosphere once you climb up that goblin trail! Whew! I’m glad I brought my inhaler. 🙂

    • mybluescreen says:

Thanks, Kathy! I’m so glad you liked it. Makes me happy! 🙂

And wow! How was the move? I’ll have to trot over to your place and see. Hope it went smoothly. Are you two three glad to be stateside again? (Can’t forget your most well traveled dog!)

  3. Tracy says:

Wow, those pictures were absolutely breath-taking. Thanks for that. I was having kind of a rough morning and that helped me harness enhance my calm and all that good stuff! :o)

    • mybluescreen says:

Wow! What a compliment! Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it. And thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate it! 🙂

  4. apparentbook says:

I loved the pictures, and the way you weaved the music into the “story.” Nice work!

I do have a confession – when I saw “You are my destiny” it automatically converted in my head to “You are my density.” Ah, Back to the Future, permanently affixed to my brain.

    • mybluescreen says:

LOL! Yeah. Dang, that was a good movie. I have to admit, I thought about re-editing a spoof version just because all these silly things kept popping into my head. 🙂

Thanks for checking it out…and for the kind words, as always. 🙂

    • mybluescreen says:

Thanks, Melissa! I really appreciate it. This blogfest has been so fun! It’s been great reading everyone’s entries. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to check out my entry. 🙂

    • mybluescreen says:

Hi, Laura! Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun with the blogfest. Thought your story was amazing…still can’t believe you actually went through that. I can’t believe how much it scared me. So glad you got to share it with us. 🙂

  6. Jen Chandler says:

I loved it! A wonderful St. Paddy’s Day video and story. I was really hooked (and wanted to know more about this mysterious ‘child of the mist’). Well done!

Thanks so much for your comments on my blog! Sorry it took me so long to get over and read/see your post for the fest!

    Have a great week,
    Jen

    • mybluescreen says:

Thank you so much for visiting and the kind words. I had a lot of fun with this…started out thinking the child of mist was a leprechaun, but realized it’s kind of open to interpretation. Enjoyed your story too! Everyone put out really good stuff. Thanks again! Hope your week is going well too. 🙂

  7. Howard Andrew Jones says:

    Dear Ang,

I’m pretty sure at this point that my letters to you are simply vanishing into the ether. Here’s hoping that this first on finds you via this posted comment…

There’s so much here to respond to, and I am slagged, so I am likely to miss something. First, congratulations on the birth of your youngin’! Wow. So many life changes. And Lester in the armed forces. Wow. It sounds as though things have been challenging of late, but you carry on with your typical charm and optimism.

I would love to have an interview — it would be an honor and pleasure. Believe me, I need all the help I can get spreading the word.

Not sure why the email bounced for you. If it ever happens again, just keep trying. This one should be good.

I am very happy to hear that you’re still writing. You have always been so very talented. Let me know when you have a full version of the book so I can give you feedback.

Lately I have been running a gauntlet trying to get this book promoted, finish and promote a game tie-in novel for another company, and finish the sequel to The Desert of Souls. I have just finished a revision of the sequel novel moments ago after working nights and weekends for a couple months. Heavy lifting. Lots of stress. Very tired. I’m going to go downstairs and see if I can spend some real time with my family.

I’ll try to write a real letter later. Meanwhile, are you on facebook?

So great to hear from you.

    best,
    Howard

    • mybluescreen says:

Ack! I am at a loss for what’s happening. I may have to give you a ring or something. I will try emailing again.
